The news is out! Hypnosis really works!
NYHC's transpersonal hypnotherapists, Jeff Cohen and Dolores McCullough, affirm it. Their clients experience it. And, even the media is beginning to get out the news that hypnosis is one of the most powerful tools for positive change!

Yes! Hypnosis works! We wouldn't be here if it didn't! Simply put, hypnosis provides an opportunity for clients to take control of their lives and empower themselves. They access a very powerful part of who they are, and begin to understand their impulses and imprints, and change whatever isn't working. We see it happen almost every day! As Jeff Cohen and Dolores McCullough, New York Hypnotherapy Center's co-founders and master Hypnotherapists affirm:

Jeffrey H. Cohen: "When I work with people and see miracles happen repeatedly in my chair, it gives me something that nothing else I've ever experienced can match. When you see a person with weight issues, excessive worries, stress, sadness, regain control of their lives you feel blessed that you are able to be part of this process."

Dolores P. McCullough: "I've seen clients who have learned through hypnosis to experience deep levels of relaxation, solve nagging problems and renew their energy and motivation. I've seen clients joyously relive long forgotten childhood memories gaining a whole new perspective and understanding of their lives' purposes. I feel privileged to accompany them on these self-affirming journeys into their pasts. Whether the clients find themselves exploring an earlier time in this life or discovering the adventures of a past life or even witnessing what it is like to be in spirit between lives, it is a choice made by the clients and respected by the hypnotist. It is an honor to offer myself as a guide for these inner journeys as the clients search for their answers.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Every day, you undergo trance-like states similar to those experienced under hypnosis. For example, that "groggy" period just before you fall asleep and just after you wake up is nicknamed the "Creative State" by scientists who study brain waves. Hypnosis provides a similar experience. Your conscious mind is quieted so that your subconscious, with all its creative, metaphoric ideas can come to the surface. The only difference with hypnosis is that the hypnotist guides you into that state allowing you to tap into your own creativity.

This is an opportunity to empower yourself. You have within yourself all the answers. Hypnosis simply allows you to get in touch with the powerful part of your mind where those answers are hidden. As hypnotists we help you to use your own resources to bring about the changes that you want in your life.

Hypnosis works no matter what your belief system is. It doesn't matter if you believe in a higher power, spirit guides, a higher self, or none of the above. Hypnosis still works. Since hypnosis centers on your mind and not someone else's, the experiences you have will center on your own system of beliefs. One of the main tenets of "Transpersonal Hypnotherapy" (see Our Core Philosophy) is that we are only guides; we do not, in any way, let our own beliefs interfere with the efforts you make and the experiences you have under hypnosis.

The Media recognizes that hypnosis really works. Dateline NBC aired a show in January 2004 called "The Dateline Weight Loss Challenge" in which two of their volunteers underwent hypnosis.
One volunteer went into a trance-like state to discover the root cause of the emotions that were undermining her dieting results. After coming to terms with the causes of her problem, she was able to overcome these blocks.
Another volunteer was a pastry chef with poor eating habits. Under hypnosis he was given suggestions that helped bring out his desire to eat nutritious foods and to exercise regularly. In the first week, he lost 13 pounds! By the third month of regular hypnosis sessions, he lost almost 40 pounds - more than any other volunteer - and said he only craved nutritious foods and now loved to exercise. (Plus, this volunteer's wife also underwent hypnosis for smoking cessation, and said several months later that she still had no desire or cravings for cigarettes!).

In addition, over the course of the past year there have been a number of print articles appearing in several different publications highlighting the effectiveness of hypnosis for helping people achieve their goals.
