Can
I be hypnotized? Hypnosis is a trance like state that
is natural and recurring. We experience it every day whether you
realize it or not. If you ever lost yourself in a good book or
a movie or found yourself daydreaming then a light hypnotic state
will feel very familiar to you. When you go to sleep at night
you must enter an altered state of consciousness in order to arrive
at the sleep state. When you wake in the morning you have to reverse
this process.
When working with a hypnotist some people find it easier than others to let themselves relax.
Some people find it very easy to reach deeper levels of hypnosis
the first time, while others feel more comfortable allowing themselves
to experience a light to medium state of relaxation at first.
At the New York Hypnotherapy Center we have many tools to help a client achieve a comfortable
state of relaxation.
Will
I be asleep? Hypnosis is not a sleep state. You will
be awake and remember everything that you experience while in
this empowered state of heightened relaxation.
You're
always in control. When you are experiencing hypnosis you are always in control. You can never be made to do anything
in hypnosis that is against your ethical or moral values. On the
contrary while in this peaceful and restful state you will find
yourself calm and centered with an expanded and heightened sense
of awareness. Hypnosis will allow you to experience an empowered
state that is a proven way to help you transcend your limitations
and realize your full potential.
Hypnosis
is not a lie detector. Since the power of hypnosis begins with your own values and desires, you can never be made
to reveal things you don't want to reveal. Bottom line: You're
always in control.
Transpersoanl
Hypnotherapy is not 'stage hypnosis.' In stage hypnosis
the hypnotist usually asks for volunteers. Those who raise their
hand are asking to be part of the show and understand that the
purpose is to entertain. So if the hypnotist asks them to do something
silly like cluck like a chicken there is a willingness among most
who choose to become part of the entertainment to comply.
Hypnosis' purpose is not
to entertain and under the guidance of a hypnotist, hypnosis is
a powerful tool for personal development and improvement. While
you will be given an opportunity to empower yourself, you will
never be asked to cluck like a chicken.
You
can't get "stuck" in hypnosis. Because you are awake
and alert during hypnosis, and because the process of hypnosis
centers on your own desires, you can end it at any time. A simple
desire to no longer be under hypnosis is enough. Also, if the
hypnotist were to leave the room (which, by the way, we would
never do), you would either immediately recover full consciousness,
or you would relax into a sleep state and wake up in a normal
and natural fashion.
